Benazir Bhutto's Photographic Legacy
When I heard this morning that former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto had been assassinated, I thought of this photograph by Associated Press photographer David Guttenfelder:
This photo was taken Nov. 10 as Bhutto left a protest where she had joined journalists in rallying against the crackdown on the media in Islamabad. (I have no idea where Guttenfelder had to be to get this shot.) Since Bhutto's return to Pakistan earlier this year, she made it a point to appear in public – and in the news media – frequently. As a result there is a rich photographic record of her time spent trying to build support for her party among the people of Pakistan.

Today's news was so sad...despite some of her pitfalls as a leader, she was so inspirational to so many people!
